Unsurprisingly, "Waiting for the Sun" wasn't featured on The Doors Number 1 album of the same name but instead turned up on their 1970 LP Morrison Hotel, which was the band's fifth studio album and also their highest-charting LP in the UK (peaking at Number 12). However, the song was penned during the sessions for Waiting for the Sun but due to the band's ambivalence over the final product, it remained stashed in the vault up until its appearance two years later on Morrison Hotel. The song, which marks a return to the band's trademark bluesy-rock sensibility following their string-laden experiments with fourth album The Soft Parade, paints a picture of the American Dream and opens with a Biblical reference. "At first flash of Eden / We raced down to the sea / Standing there on freedom's shore / Waiting for the sun / Waiting for the sun / Waiting for the sun," purrs Jim Morrison in the appetising first verse before the song explodes with psychedelic rock fire.

Fantastic, accurate rendition of "Waiting For the Sun." I'm a Doors fan and sing their songs, so I can assure all that this rendition deserves 5 stars.
