Satirical glam metal combo Steel Panther made a name for themselves in the early 2000s through a controversial blend of politically incorrect humor and some of the genre's most predominant tropes. After making the rounds in West Hollywood's Sunset Strip scene and releasing the 2003 EP Hole Patrol under the name Metal Shop, the group changed its name to Steel Panther and made its major-label debut in 2009 with the album Feel the Steel. The LP caused quite a stir upon its release due to the offensive lyrical content of their songs, prompting accusations of homophobia, racism, and sexism against the band. One fine example of that is the album's second track, "Asian Hooker," which opens with the Oriental riff and quickly builds up into a hard-hitting glam metal song about a man trying to score drugs and hire some prostitutes while in Tokyo. Despite the controversy generated by some of its tracks, Feel the Steel still managed to climb up to the top spot on Billboard's Top Comedy Albums chart and peaked at Number 98 on the Billboard 200.
