Few singers have become so synonymous with the holiday season as American R&B/pop singer Mariah Carey. Of course, this is due to Mariah Carey penning the seminal seasonal hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You”; but, over the years, she has lent her voice to a number of Christmas songs that have enjoyed considerable chart success in the United States. In fact, her first Christmas album, 1994’s Merry Christmas, not only includes “All I Want for Christmas Is You” but also a number of traditional Christmas songs. Among these is “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” Mariah Carey’s cover of the 1963 Darlene Love classic written by Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry, and Phil Spector. Mariah Carey’s take on the song is faithful to the original, though featuring production sounds more suited for 1990s radio. The Mariah Carey version of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” peaked at Number 20 on the US Billboard Holiday 100 chart, as well as Number 24 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.
