Despite being considered one of the most iconic holiday albums in recent musical history, Phil Spector's A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector (1963) was considered a commercial flop at the time of its release (mainly due to the fact that it was released the same day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated). Thanks to numerous re-releases during the subsequent years, the album has since attained cult status and has charted consistently in the seasonal charts. Featuring contributions by many of his recording artists and his trademark "Wall of Sound" production technique, most of the tracks in the LP went on to become classic radio staples during the holiday season. Such is the case of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," sung by Darlene Love, which didn't chart commercially after its release in 1963 and 1964, but slowly grew upon American audiences over the years, peaking at Number 7 on Billboard's Holiday chart in 2021 and reaching Number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 later that year. Written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich, and Phil Spector himself, the song has also become one of Darlene Love's signature songs.
