Although the song "Burning Love" was first recorded by country soul artist Arthur Alexander in 1972, it was the King of Rock and Roll himself who popularized the tune later that year. Written by singer-songwriter Dennis Linde, who also played guitar on the track, "Burning Love" was released as a B-side to the country ballad "It's a Matter of Time" in August 1972 and reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October of that year, only surpassed by Chuck Berry's "My Ding-a-Ling." It was Elvis Presley's biggest hit since "Suspicious Minds" and his last Top 10 on the American Hot 100. "Burning Love" was also the last rock song Elvis Presley would record during the latter part of his career, as his repertoire consisted mostly of ballads. The song can be found in the 1972 album Burning Love and Hits from His Movies, Volume 2, and live versions were included in the concert film Elvis on Tour (1972) and the 1973 TV concert special Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite. In 2001, the song was included in the four-disc box set Live in Las Vegas, which consisted of live recordings of Elvis Presley in Las Vegas through every decade of his career.
