Doja recorded the lead vocal for "Woman" a month before the album was released. She recorded much of the album in her home studio with her ex-boyfriend, producer Y2K, during the Covid lockdown. Lyrically, "Woman" is a celebration of femininity. She addresses a love interest, telling him of her strengths and desires. Doja Cat sings her hypnotic chorus over a sensual afrobeat groove. Describing her thought process in creating the new album, the young artist explained she wanted to explore new sounds that went beyond the usual pop or rap aesthetic.
