Americana legend Delbert McClinton celebrated the art of drinking with his heady 2022 version of "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer." The feel-good boogie track is all about having a blast and tells the simple story of a man at closing time in a bar trying to get another drink. Delbert McClinton – who began his career in 1957 and by 2022 was still going strong – put his unique spin on a track originally made famous by Amos Millburn in 1953 and then by John Lee Hooker in 1966. This bona fide drinking anthem opens with the sound of buoyant piano and a honkytonk blues twinkle before Delbert McClinton chimes in to deliver his booze-drenched message loud and clear: “One scotch, one bourbon, one beer / One scotch, one bourbon, one beer / Please, mister bartender, listen here / I ain't here for trouble, so have no fear / One scotch, one bourbon, and one beer,” he sings invitingly in the spirited chorus.
