Daniel Boaventura is a singer and actor from Brazil. With a long career that’s been active since the early 1990s, the singer has accumulated a very wide and eclectic songbook, performing everything from Broadway musical numbers to jazz standards to pop hits and obscure deep cuts. In 2018, the performer released a live album + concert film titled Ao Vivo No Mexico where he explored his vast catalog. This live performance included renditions of various popular songs, such as The Clash’s “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” and Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” It also included a rendition of “Venus,” the rock song originally by Dutch rock band Shocking Blue, made famous by the English girl group Bananarama in the mid Shocking Blue guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, the song is about the mythological figure of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty.
