While Whitesnake had already made a name for themselves across two studio albums as trusted purveyors of bluesy hard rock, the London-originating band really came into their commercial own with their third studio album Ready an' Willing, which became their first album to chart in the US, hitting up Number 90 on the Billboard 200 chart. Released in May 1980, the LP made it to Number 6 on the UK Albums Chart – also helped along by the success of its other single, "Fool for Your Loving," which was informed by the breakup of Whitesnake singer David Coverdale's first marriage – and its title track offered a slower take on the band's guitar-driven sound. The yearning of "Ready an' Willing" is conveyed evocatively through its lyrics: "I'm ready an' willing / To reach for the sun / So I can get me some loving / Before I'm gone / I want more, more, more, more / I want some more / Sweet satisfaction to soothe my soul."
