The Rolling Stones have covered many blues standards on their albums and in concerts. Even their band name was taken from a Muddy Waters' song, "Rollin' Stone." "I Got the Blues" is a Stones original, written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. It's from Sticky Fingers, one of their most popular albums. It was the band's first album to reach #1 on both the US and UK charts. The album reflected the band's desire to return to their roots. The songs are raw and bluesy and the tracks are filled with a horn section and Billy Preston on organ. Preston shines on "I Got the Blues," delivering a churchy organ solo. The original album cover was designed by Andy Warhol. It featured a photo of a male model in tight jeans with a working zipper. Several new cover designs were released after distributors complained that the zipper was scratching other albums.
The backing track for "I Got the Blues" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
