Richard O'Brien's cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show debuted in 1975 and gifted the world a cornucopia of sing-along musical comedy horror favourites, including the movie's centrepiece: "Time Warp." Long before social media was even a twinkle in our collective eye, "Time Warp" spawned a parody-powered dance craze to rival some of TikTok's biggest hits, with some of the lyrics doubling up as choreographed instructions ("It's just a jump to the left", "You bring your knees in tight"). The track was written and sung in the film by Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff, Nell Campbell as Columbia and Patricia Quinn as Magenta, with the campy assistance of backing singers the Transylvanians. Produced by Richard Hartley and released by Ode Records in 1975, The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack reached number 49 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1978 and is widely considered one of the best musical soundtracks of all time.
