"Dream a Little Dream of Me" is a song recorded by the folk-rock group The Mamas & The Papas. It was written by Fabian Andre, Wilbur Schwandt, and Gus Kahn. Group vocalist Michelle Phillips suggested the song to the band. Her father had been friends with songwriter Fabian Andre when she was a young girl in Mexico City. The group recorded the song for their album The Papas & The Mamas with Mama Cass singing lead. She also contributed the whistling solo. Cass later told Melody Maker, "I tried to sing it like it was 1943 and somebody had just come in and said, 'Here's a new song.'
