And when that speech is accompanied by irresistibly menacing music, even better. “Be Prepared,” from Disney’s The Lion King, is one of the most memorable villain songs in musical film history. The song, a devilish soliloquy from the film’s main villain Scar, who lays out his master plan to his army of loyal hyena followers. “Be Prepared” was written by Elton John (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics). The version in the film is performed by Jeremy Irons, with additional voices by Whoopi Goldberg and Jim Cummings.
