One of the most memorable songs in any Disney film, "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)" is fun from start to finish. Written by the superstar team of Robert and Richard Sherman—who also wrote some of Disney’s most enduring songs—this jaunty tune is a highlight from the 1967 animated film The Jungle Book. In the film, it’s performed by musician Louis Prima in his role as King Louie with Phil Harris providing additional vocals as Baloo the bear. The Sherman brothers aimed to create a jazzy song that featured a Dixieland-like melody, as the animated monkeys swing from the trees and try to persuade the human child Mowgli to join them. The music was recorded by the film’s composer George Burns, working off of the instrumental demo performed by Louis Prima himself. The song would quickly become an enduring classic, being covered by artists such as Fall Out Boy, The Jonas Brothers, Robbie Williams, and Smash Mouth.
