Scottish indie-rock staples The Fratellis defied expectations to put their stomping spin on a bona fide disco classic "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie," which was originally a 1977 hit single for Spanish vocal duo Baccara. The Fratellis recorded their version as a charity single with 100% of the proceeds going to children's charities, including The Tartan Army Children’s Charity, SoccerAid and The Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund. In 2021, "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" became a football anthem during UEFA Euro 2020 after the Scottish team were filmed singing the track in celebration of their victory over Serbia, which saw Scotland qualify for Euro 2020. Following their live performance of the track on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in March 2021 and the generally positive response, The Fratellis were moved to record a single. Later, to mark the Scottish football connection, The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra performed a rendition of the song as part of a video featuring members of the Scotland team.
