US vocal group favorites The Emotions charmed the charts with 1977's mellow slice of soulful gold "Don't Ask My Neighbors,” which reached Number 44 on the US pop charts and Number 7 on the R&B charts and was featured on their chart-topping R&B album of the same year, Rejoice. Composed by Skip Scarborough and produced by Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White, "Don't Ask My Neighbours" embodies an uplifting R&B sound that's peppered with orchestral swells, brass decoration and unshakeable vocal harmonies. Originally named the Heavenly Sunbeams, the Chicago girl group developed their singing skills in gospel music before making the switch to chart-friendly, hook-laden R&B and this song pays its dues to their musical upbringing while celebrating themes of love and romance. "Come to me (come to me) / Don't be afraid of / What you'll see (what you'll see) /You'll find I love you (ooh, I love you) / Come to me (come to me) / Don't be afraid."
