The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” was the first single released on Apple, their record label. This encouraging song was written by Paul McCartney and was originally titled “Hey Jules,” to comfort Julian Lennon after his father left the family for Yoko. In Steve Turner’s book The Stories Behind Every Beatles Song Julian said he felt closer to McCartney than his father in those early years. Years later, as an adult, he ran into McCartney when they were both staying at the same NYC hotel.
