"War Ensemble" is a song by the thrash metal band Slayer. It serves as the opening track to their fifth studio album, Seasons in the Abyss. The 1990 album was the last to feature the band's full original line up- Tom Araya (bass and vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Jeff Hanneman (guitar), and Dave Lombardo (drums). Lombardo left and rejoined the group in 2006. Slayer is one of the "big four" thrash metal bands alongside Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth. "War Ensemble" blends the dark images of war with the breakneck speed of a metal locomotive. "Sport the war, war support / The sport is war, total war / When victory's really massacre."
