Michael Barratt, known professionally as Shakin' Stevens, is a Welsh singer who was the UK's top-selling singles artist of the 80s. Stevens was his parents' 11th child. He found work as a milkman and an upholsterer before finding success in music. His songs and stage persona were influenced by early rock & roll. With its handclaps, jingle bells, and holiday harmonies, "Merry Christmas Everyone" has a light-hearted vintage sound. The song was written by Bob Heatlie and produced by Dave Edmunds. Since its release in 1984, the song finds a place on the charts each Christmas.
