Written by Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert and John Denver, and released as a single in 1971 (when it reached number two on Billboard's US Hot 100 singles chart), "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is synonymous with the late John Denver and West Virginia, where it's considered one of the state's four official anthems. Canadian singer-songwriter Roch Voisine—located hundreds of miles away in Montreal—took the song on for his 2009 covers album Americana II (the second in a trilogy) and perfectly captured the bucolic aura of the original. The Juno Award winner zoomed into the top ten in Canada, Belgium and France with Americana II, which also contained covers of Tom T. Hall's country standard "That's How I Got to Memphis," Tim Hardin's 1960s folk song "If I Were a Carpenter," and Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right", among others. In 2023, "Take Me Home, Country Roads" was selected by the Library of Congress for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.
