"San Tropez" is a song by Pink Floyd from their sixth studio album Meddle. The British progressive rock band was known for their creativity but they pushed themselves to be even more experimental with the songs on Meddle. The band was between tours and went into the recording process with no songs written. One of the song-writing experiments involved each band member playing on a separate track with no knowledge of what the others were playing. They would agree on the chords beforehand but not the tempo. Unfortunately, none of what came out of it was usable but it set the tone for what became one of their most experimental albums. Bassist/singer Roger Waters wrote "San Tropez" about a recent trip he'd taken with the band to the South of France. The song has a jazzy, laid-back feel. It’s the only song on the album written by just one band member.
