"Wildflower" is a song by the R&B group New Birth. The song was originally a poem written by a police officer named Dave Richardson. He was dating a nurse and one night when he showed up to take her out, she opened the door in a housecoat with her wet hair wrapped in a towel. Through tears, she explained that two or her patients had died that day. She excused herself to get ready and when he went to check on her, she had fallen asleep from exhaustion. He covered her with a blanket, went home, and wrote the poem in 15 minutes. "Let her cry, for she's a lady / Let her dream, for she's a child." He shared the poem with his good friend David Foster, who was the keyboardist in Skylark. It became a top 10 hit in 1973. The song became a hit for a second time a year later for the group New Birth.
The backing track for "Wildflower" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
