Sung by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in his role as Polynesian demigod Maui in Disney’s animated feature film from 2016, Moana – centered around the movie's namesake, the daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village – "You're Welcome" is the song in which he introduces himself to the aforementioned princess ("Yes, it's really me, it's Maui, breathe it in / I know it's a lot: the hair, the bod / When you're staring at a demigod.") Rap-flavored "You're Welcome" was featured on the Moana soundtrack, which was released by Walt Disney Records in November 2016 and included songs written by Opetaia Foa'i, Mark Mancina and the legendary Lin-Manuel Miranda. With lyrics offering a mixture of English, Samoan and the Tokelauan language, the soundtrack hit Number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and Moana itself was nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("How Far I'll Go") at the 89th Academy Awards.
