Originally comprising Stokley Williams (lead singer), Ricky Kinchen (bassist), Homer O'Dell (guitarist), Larry Waddell (pianist), Keri Lewis (keyboardist), and Jeffrey Allen (keyboardist/saxophonist), Mint Condition formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in the late 1980s and raised the standard for rich, soulful R&B crooners with breakout hits like "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)," the star of their 1991 debut LP for Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis' A&M imprint Perspective Records, Meant to Be Mint. The group went on to rack up albums at a consistent rate during the 1990s, and in 2008 released their sixth studio album E-Life, which landed at number eight on the Billboard R&B album chart and yielded two singles in "Baby Boy, Baby Girl" and "Nothing Left To Say." This emotional breakup missive helped restore the US group to their former glory, finishing at number 27 on the R&B chart and giving them their first Top 30 R&B single in nearly a decade.
