The holiday classic "Winter Wonderland" was written in 1934 by composer Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard Bernhard Smith, who drew inspiration from his hometown's Central Park covered in snow during the winter season. Originally, the song's lyrics revolved around an amorous relationship but a later version printed in 1947 turned its romantic undertones into something more suitable for children. Since its first recording by Richard Himber and his Hotel Ritz-Carlton Orchestra in 1934, "Winter Wonderland" was covered extensively by numerous artists, including Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, and, more recently, Canadian singer Michael Bublé, who featured it in the deluxe edition of his 2011 holiday album, Christmas. Stylistically speaking, Michael Bublé's version doesn't stray too far from the original one, featuring big band-style brass arrangements, lush orchestral instrumentation, and the crooner's trademark velvety voice.
