Arizona legend Marty Robbins claimed many professional victories and accolades during his four-decade-long career, from winning a Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Recording in 1959 and being named Man of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music in 1970 to forging a successful career as a NASCAR racing driver. The multi-hyphenate multi-instrumentalist blazed an early trail for outlaw country as well as sitting at the top table of country and western singers for the majority of his musical tenure. In 1968, he covered Carl Belew's 1950s country number "Am I That Easy to Forget, and issued it as a single that year, bringing grace, warmth and elegance to a work of smooth country. Carl Belew co-wrote "Am I That Easy to Forget" with US songwriter W.V. Stevenson while they were in Nashville, Tennessee, and first recorded the song in December 1958, going to number nine on the Billboard Country Music chart the following year.
