Written by the inimitable Gene Simmons and Stephen Coronel, "She" was originally named “She Walks By Moonlight" after the first line of the song and took inspiration from the 1953 western Hondo, directed by John Farrow and starring John Wayne and Geraldine Page. Like so many of the group's tunes, there's a sexual side to "She," which was contained on Kiss's third studio album Dressed to Kill, released in 1975 and peaking at number 32 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. The album was produced by Casablanca Records president Neil Bogart, due to a restriction on finances, and was later re-released in 1997 in a remastered version. A band known for their fireworks and theatrics, when Kiss performed "She" live – as the story goes – Ace Frehley would set off a smoke bomb during his guitar solo. You wouldn't expect anything less from one of hard rock's most mischievous and attention-courting bands.
