Actor Michael Paré did such a great job at lip-synching for the Eddie and the Cruiser films, many people never knew he wasn't singing. Who was singing was John Cafferty. He and his band supplied that Jersey shore sound that filled Eddie and The Cruisers (1983) and its sequel, Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! (1989). The soundtrack from the original film, which contained the hit "On the Dark Side," reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. "Just a Matter of Time," from Eddie and the Cruisers II, is about following a dream through the passage of time. The verses move from a time of youthful confidence to a time of self-doubt. The last verse contains the hope that a dream can be ignited again. "Maybe you find in the end / you're able to dream once again."
