Jessica Jay was one of the several projects created by Milan-based Italian label SAIFAM, one of the leading exponents of dance music in Europe. Formed in 1993, the group consisted of vocalist and Italo-disco veteran Dora Carfoglio and producers Lino and Pino Nicolosi, all of whom had been part of the synthpop band Novecento in the mid-1980s. Inspired by the rising popularity of Swedish pop act Ace of Base, Jessica Jay set out to conquer the international charts by revamping obscure classics into dance-pop bangers. After the success of their first album Broken Hearted Woman (1994), Jessica Jay returned in 1998 with the single "Chilly Cha Cha," a track that masterfully combined their electronic influences with a distinct Latin flavor. Soon after its release, "Chilly Cha Cha" spread like wildfire all over France and Italy, becoming a huge hit on the European nightclub circuit. The song would later be included in an album of the same name, released later that year.
