“The Load-Out” is a song by singer/songwriter Jackson Browne from his album Running on Empty. The entire album was recorded on tour but not just in concert. Songs were recorded on stage, backstage, in hotel rooms, and on the tour bus. Another interesting thing about the album was that, unlike most live albums, these were all new songs. The lyrical themes of the songs also were inspired by touring. “The Load-Out” is a tribute to the hard-working road crews who move all the band equipment. “They’re the first to come and the last to leave.” The song also serves as a thank you to the fans. The unique album was Browne's biggest seller. It stayed on the charts for 65 weeks and received two Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year.
