"Out Ta Get Me" is one of the earliest songs written and performed by Guns N' Roses. It appears on their debut album Appetite for Destruction but was part of their set when they were playing LA clubs. The lyrics were written by frontman Axl Rose and although the song doesn't mention the situation specifically, bassist Duff McKagen said "Out Ta Get Me" was inspired by an incident where the police broke down their door looking for Axl to answer what turned out to be a bogus rape charge. Member Slash, who co-wrote the music with Izzy Stradlin, said the song's angst comes from the band's mindset at the time. In the early years, the band felt that people were against them, always trying to hold them back. No one could hold back their debut album. It entered the Billboard 200 at #1 and became the most successful debut album ever.
