“Summer Nights” is a popular duet from the musical Grease. It was recorded by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John for the film adaptation and appears on Grease: The Original Soundtrack from the Motion Picture. The song uses a clever technique where both stars, as their characters Sandy and Danny, tell their version of what happened when the two met during the summer. When Danny tells his version to his greaser friends the T-Birds, he implies it was a sexual relationship. Sandy’s version to her friends, The Pink Ladies, is much more innocent with lyrics about holding hands and drinking lemonade.
