Gayle's major-label debut "Abcdefu" was a bile-fueled breakup anthem that also has a funny side. "Fuck you and your mom and your sister and your job / And your broke-ass car and that shit you call art / Fuck you and your friends that I'll never see again / Everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off," she rants over pop-punky guitar. Co-written by Gayle with Sara Davis and David Pittenger, and produced by Pete Nappi, "Abcdefu" – which was included on Gayle's 2022 debut EP A Study of the Human Experience Volume One – topped the Billboard Global 200, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and swept the charts all over the world. And just when you thought things couldn't angstier, Gayle dropped her "Abcdefu (angrier)" version, which certainly pulls no punches – sonically, or otherwise. The track was released as a single in September 2021.
