The LP saw him reclaim his rightful throne at the summit of the US pop album charts after trailing off to focus on his own label, Reprise Records, in 1960. Although Frank Sinatra famously despised the track, "Strangers in the Night"—which conveys a noirish moment of fleeting romance—shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and the Easy Listening chart, as well as reaching number one in the UK. Composed by jazz-minded German orchestra leader Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder, the track won Frank Sinatra the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and the Grammy Award for Record of the Year, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Arrangement Accompanying a Vocalist or Instrumentalist for Ernie Freeman at the Grammy Awards of 1967, all for a song he allegedly couldn't stand.
