Rising to Number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100, "The Next Episode" is arguably right up there as Dr. Dre's calling card and signature tune. The millenial party-starter to end all party-starters, this hip-hop firecracker is so timeless, it was even chosen to opened the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show in February 2022. With Snoop Dogg credited on the track, the fellow Californian had intended to include "The Next Episode" on his 1993 classic album Doggystyle, but it was taken up by rapper-producer legend Dr. Dre instead and released in June 200 as the third single from his second studio album, 2001 (1999). The sample-laced track features Snoop Dogg, along with Kurupt and Nate Dogg, and interpolates "The Edge" by David McCallum and producer David Axelrod, which was originally released on the former's 1967 album Music: A Bit More Of Me. "The Next Episode" also achieved substantial commercial success in the UK, where it went platinum.
