Fleetwood Mac's gentle folk-rock classic "Landslide" came at a pivotal moment in Stevie Nick's life. In 1973, she and Lindsey Buckingham had been dropped by Polydor Records after the commercial failure of their studio debut, and she was contemplating dropping her music career to go back to school. These unfavorable circumstances would serve as creative fuel for "Landslide," which was later included in Fleetwood Mac's eponymous 1975 album. Even though it wasn't officially released as a single, "Landslide" became a staple of both Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nick's live repertoires, and a live version from their 1997 reunion live LP The Dance entered the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 51. In 2002, country music group The Dixie Chicks (now simply known as The Chicks) released a countrified version of "Landslide" that reached Number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
