Included in his 1992 album of the same name, the sleazy electric blues number "Never Been Rocked Enough" came hot on the heels of some of Delbert McClinton's greatest artistic achievements. Only a year before, the Texas native had netted a Grammy Award for his Bonnie Raitt duet "Good Man, Good Woman," a feat that was followed by his first charting entry in almost a decade, 1992's Never Been Rocked Enough. Produced by Don Was, the album contained the single "Every Time I Roll the Dice," a raunchy, blues-inflected rock'n'roll tune that peaked at Number 13 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Despite not having been released officially as a single, the album's title track also proved to be one of the obvious standouts from the singer's fourteenth studio effort, with its slow-burning blues instrumentation and the singer's raspy voice masterfully depicting a pickup scene at an unknown dive-bar somewhere in the South of the United States.
