Cody Jinks lets off steam with slow-burning clincher "Hand Me Down", slithering venomously like a rattlesnake through gravelly outlaw country terrain to close out his career-defining 2016 album I'm Not the Devil with a true statement of intent. His grievances come to light in the first verse, which sees him rail against politicians, news media, and greed: "Hand me down those rich man's wars / Hand me down what it's all for / Hand me down your politicians /Handed down by hypocrites / Hand me down false laws of man / Hand me down your latest brand / Hand me down false laws of man / Hand me down your latest brand", he croaks. Cody Jinks nestled his feet firmly under the table of the mainstream country scene with 2016 breakout LP I'm Not the Devil, arriving at number four on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and staying true to his outlaw country leanings with a cover of Merle Haggard’s "The Way I Am" written by Sonny Throckmorton.
