The original version of the song, released via streaming services on August 3, 2017, featured a verse sung by rapper Young Thug. However, an alternative version titled "Havana (No Rap Version)," with a different second verse sung by Camila Cabello was later released for digital download on September 6th, 2017. Written with a team of top-tier that included Pharrell Williams, "Havana" was certified platinum a total of nine times and reached Number 1 not only in the United States but also in several European countries. A remix version of the song with reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee replacing Young Thug saw the light in November 2017 and was followed by a live version in September 2018.
