"If you’re travelin' to the north country fair / Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline / Remember me to one who lives there / For she once was a true love of mine," begins Bob Dylan in "Girl from the North Country," before the deep, gritty tones of Johnny Cash chime in for the next verse: "See for me that her hair's hangin' down / It curls and falls all down her breast / See for me that her hair's hangin' down / That's the way I remember her best." The dynamic duo come together for the chorus on a raw diamond-in-the-rough classic that's favored as one of Bob Dylan's very best. The song – which was reportedly inspired by Bob Dylan's high school sweetheart Echo Helstrom Casey, who passed away in 2018 – was featured as the second track on Bob Dylan's second studio album, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) with the duet later appearing as the opening track to the musical legend's ninth studio album, Nashville Skyline (1969).
