"Could It Be Magic" is a song from American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow's 1973 eponymous album. Composed by the singer with Adrienne Anderson, the track was inspired by Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C minor, Opus 28, Number 20. It was first recorded and released in 1971 by the band Featherbed, a group of session players featuring Barry Manilow. After the song failed to enter the charts, the crooner re-worked and rearranged the song, turning it into an epic 8-minute ballad that ended up on his 1973 self-titled studio debut. In 1975, "Could It Be Magic" gained new life after Arista reissued its parent album, reaching Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song would later be covered by Donna Summer on her 1976 album, A Love Trilogy, and by English boy band Take That, who included it in their 1992 studio debut, Take That & Party. A new version combining the song's soaring string and brass arrangements with drums, bass, and synthesizers was released as part of the 1993 compilation Greatest Hits: The Platinum Collection.
