Anchored to the oft-cited phrase "money makes the world go round," ABBA's "Money, Money, Money" is high-value pop from Sweden's finest. Written by the group's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with Anni-Frid Lyngstad singing lead vocal, "Money, Money, Money" tells the story of a woman who just can't seem to get a break, despite toiling away. "I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay / Ain't it sad?" she admits in the first verse. However, she's got a plan: "If I got me a wealthy man / I wouldn't have to work at all / I'd fool around and have a ball," she continues. All served with a huge dollop of irony, the single—the successor to smash-hit “Dancing Queen"—hit number one in Australia, Belgium, France, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and West Germany in 1976 and was featured on ABBA's album Arrival, also released that year. Arrival became one of ABBA's best-selling albums.
