American singer-songwriter Aaron Lewis rose to fame in the early aughts as the lead vocalist of the nu-metal band Staind, with whom he recorded seven studio albums between 1996 and 2011. In 2010, he pursued a successful solo career in country music, making his official debut with the chart-topping EP Town Line. Following the release of his first studio album The Road in 2012, Aaron Lewis scored his first major crossover hit with 2016's The Sinner, which climbed to Number 4 on the Billboard 200 and Number 1 on the Hot Country Albums chart. The album featured the track "Northern Redneck," a twangy country-rock number whose lyrics proved that the Southern lifestyle is alive and well north of the Mason-Dixon line. Written by Aaron Lewis and produced by Buddy Simpson, "Northern Redneck" wasn't released as an official single but quickly became a favorite amongst the singer's fanbase, with an acoustic rendition on his YouTube channel accumulating over 2 million views.
