"Mrs. Vandebilt" is a song by Paul McCartney & Wings from Band on the Run. It was written by the ex Beatle and his wife, Linda, and recorded in Lagos, Nigeria. The song opens with a modified catchphrase from the English performer Charlie Chester. The comedian would say, "Down in the jungle living in a tent, better than a bungalow, no rent," but in Mrs. Vandebilt, it's "You don't use money, you don't pay rent." The laughter at the end is another nod to Chester and the idea of an audience responding to a live performance. Additional overdubs were recorded later in London, including more laughter and Howie Casey's sax solo. While the album had a slow start commercially, it took off as soon singles "Jet" and the title track "Band on the Run" became chart-topping radio hits.
The backing track for "Mrs. Vandebilt" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
