American singer and accordionist “Weird Al” Yankovic made a name for himself by creating parodies of well-known pop hits, one of which is 1984’s I Lost on Jeopardy.” The song was included as part of “Weird Al” Yankovic’s second album titled “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D (1984). It’s a parody of the song Jeopardy by The Greg Kihn Band, replacing the lyrics “our love’s in jeopardy” for “I lost on Jeopardy,” referencing the famous American game show. The original song was written by Greg Kihn and Steve Wright, while I Lost on Jeopardy substitutes the lyrics with parody lyrics by “Weird Al” Yankovic. Instead of a song about potential romantic upheaval, the new lyrics turn it into a song about doing badly at the Jeopardy game show. The song was produced by Rick Derringer. It went on to peak at Number 81 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. I Lost on Jeopardy was also referenced multiple times on the actual Jeopardy show, both as a category and as one of the questions.
