"It's Raining Men" is an iconic post-disco track by American music duo Weather Girls. The song was released in 1982 and then included as part of the group's 1983 third studio album, Success. "It's Raining Men" was written by Paul Jabara and Paul Shaffer, who also helmed its production alongside Bob Esty. With its energetic tempo and fusion of R&B, soul, and 70s EDM, the song is an unapologetic celebration of the masculine form. The song was first intended for Donna Summer, but she rejected it for religious reasons. It then went on to be rejected by other popular singers such as Diana Ross, Cher, and Barbra Streisand. Eventually, the song made its way to the duo Weather Girls, who were initially skeptical about the song's provocative lyrics but eventually agreed to record it. "It's Raining Men" was an absolute hit, climbing to the Number 1 spot on the US dance chart and Number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached Number 2 on the UK singles chart. "It's Raining Men" was nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1983. It was also ranked in VH1's Greatest Songs of the 1980s list.
