Kentucky country singer-songwriter Tyler Childers dropped his debut album Bottles and Bibles in 2011 when he was just 19 years of age. On the album's stirring bluegrass-tinted title track, he flaunts his prodigious storytelling talent to spin a Southern gothic tale about a heartbroken pastor who reaches for the bottle to drown out his heartache. "Now the preacher's been drinkin' / But it's hard not to do / Since she ran out the screen door / And swore they were through," sings Tyler Childers, his voice sounding wise beyond his years. The song provided a window into the grit and sawdust songbook of Tyler Childers who often depicts the lives and times of the Appalachian coal mining community. He can now claim four top ten country albums to his name, including 2019 chart-topper Country Squire and 2022's Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?, which gave him his first top 10 LP on the US Billboard 200.
