Tove Lo turned her attention to the art of sampling for her smouldering 2022 single "2 Die 4," interpolating the buoyant 1969 instrumental by Gershon Kingsley titled "Popcorn;" best known by Hot Butter’s synthy 1972 refit, and then brought back to life again by Crazy Frog for a love-to-hate version in the mid-2000s. For her sassy, plumped-up EDM floor-filler, the grungey Swedish popstar brings the energy, retro sounds, and heartstopping drops to a sexy anthem about killer love, collaborating with producer Oscar Görres aka OzGo for the second time following 2016’s “Flashes." “2 Die 4” was issued as the third single from Tove Lo’s fifth studio album, Dirt Femme—independently released by her own label Pretty Swede Records—which was released in July 2022 and arrived in the wake of her 2019 LP Sunshine Kitty, which featured collaborations with Doja Cat, Jax Jones, and Kylie Minogue.
