Welsh superstar Tom Jones took on the mighty Frank Sinatra for his 1969 rendition of canonical jazz classic "Fly Me to the Moon" – and came up trumps. With his rich, showstopping tenor perfectly suited for the song, Tom Jones's version featured a sprinkle of bossa nova-esque shuffle and a more full-bodied arrangement with theatrical vocal embellishments. "Fill my heart with song / And let me sing forevermore / You are all I long for / All I worship and adore / In other words, please be true / In other words, I love you," he belts out memorably, adding a touch of his trademark sensuality to the beloved song. "Fly Me to the Moon," which was originally written by Bart Howard in 1954 and first recorded by Kaye Ballard that same year, was popularized by Frank Sinatra in 1964 and became synonymously linked with the Apollo missions to the moon, largely helped by its use of celestial metaphors.
