The Whispers' fourteenth album,Things Get Better with Time, was aptly named. The R&B group had been having hits since the 60s but achieved their greatest success with the album's crossover hit, "Rock Steady.” The success of that single drove the album up the charts. Although "In the Mood" was never released as a single, because of the popularity of the album it remains a favorite. The sexy slow jam is aural foreplay, complete with a Marvin Gaye "Sexual Healing" reference. "In the Mood"was written by Babyface and Daryl Simmons, two of the most successful songwriter/producers in modern R&B music.
